Kristin Hartman

My work is inspired by natural scenery. I am especially drawn to the beauty and wonder that is created when light shines on and through trees and other elements. Living near Folsom Lake provides me with endless inspiration and subject matter. This is where most of my reference photos are taken.

Each of my pieces is created with a loose and expressive style. I prefer to paint quickly while standing and moving around. This keeps me from overworking the piece, and allows me to capture my first and most authentic interpretation of a scene. It also creates a sense of movement that I believe brings each piece to life and makes for an enjoyable viewing experience.
