Laurel Mathe
From the rivers to the canyons, my childhood in the Sierra Foothills instilled a deep love for our local wilderness. This passion for the natural world has fueled my art for over 35 years. I’m a visual storyteller, weaving tales of our local flora and fauna through printmaking, linocut, scratchboard, pen and ink, and digital artistry.
The heart of my studio is my 1914 Chandler & Price Letterpress. This cherished, historical companion imbues each print with a tactile depth hard to capture in other mediums. Through my work I hope to inspire a sense of wonder in viewers, inviting them to appreciate our local treasures that often go unseen.
