Karen Camara
From a young age growing up in the Midwest, I’ve felt an insatiable urge to create. Each changing season beckoned me outdoors, where I discovered a world brimming with wonder and beauty. This connection to nature fuels my passion for plein air painting, a style that allows me to capture fleeting moments and share them on canvas before they disappear.
I enjoy painting in the following mediums:
Oil
Acrylic
Watercolor
Oil paints are my primary medium. I relish the way they glide onto the canvas, the texture smooth and luxurious like frosting a cake. But for those times when deadlines loom large, I turn to acrylics, appreciating their quick-drying nature.
Painting en plein air has become a cornerstone of my artistic practice. It’s a constant exercise in observation, honing my ability to perceive and translate the interplay of light and shadow, shape and form. It’s a privilege to have a profession I’m so passionate about, and an even greater one to call the outdoors my studio – a source of endless inspiration in ever-changing landscapes.
