Salted Earth Ceramics specializes in art created from earth. I am a small batch artisan potter located in Auburn, California. Originally introduced to pottery by my daughter, I have been continually refining my craft since 2020 with the goal of bringing unique ceramic pieces into the world that are both beautiful and functional.
All items are handmade with thought and intention for the user. I believe the items we use everyday should be both useful and beautiful as beauty brings joy into our lives. I make a variety of functional work including platters, bowls, vases, planters, salt cellars, garlic keepers, butter dishes, sponge holders, spoon rests, jewelry dishes, luminaries, votive holders, tumblers, and my very favorite thing to make – colorful one of a kind mugs. Often hand carved or decorated with appliqués, these mugs are sure to bring a smile to your face.
A majority of my work is wheel thrown. However more recently, I have been utilizing slab and hand building techniques to explore the world of Nerikomi, a Japanese pottery technique that involves combining different colored porcelain clay to create intricate, marbled patterns.
I utilize a variety of clay, glaze, decorating, and firing techniques including cone 5/6 oxidation firing and cone 10 reduction firing to create a unique body of work that sets Salted Earth Ceramics apart from other potters.
I take a lot of pride and make a lot of effort to create unique one of a kind functional works of art that appeal to all walks of life. Whether you’re a Michelin Star Chef looking for just the right plate to finish a dish, a local shopping for a loved one, or a traveler looking to take home that perfect handcrafted piece, Salted Earth Ceramics truly offer’s something special for everyone.
