Angela Houk
Angela Houk is a multidisciplinary artist who has made art a passionate pursuit for more than 30 years. Through her personal artistic journey, she is constantly collecting unexpected materials for inspiration and finding opportunities for creativity in the daily rhythms of ordinary life.
Her work is made through exploring a subject and experimenting with various art mediums to unpack the various concepts that present themselves throughout her process. This includes writing, drawing, collage, painting, printmaking, sculpture, assemblage, fiber arts and more. Beauty, connection and redemption are perpetual themes that shape her own life and work.
Angela believes that abandoned things and desolate spaces have voices to teach us about our own lives. For her, paying attention to often unnoticed things becomes an exploration of embracing child like wonder. Recently she has been exploring these ideas through creating work using found objects from specific places and times. When brought together in their “lostness” these objects tell a unique story, spark new curiosity and invite viewers into the possibility of hope.
