I love to create and have been doing so from childhood when I began designing clothes for my Barbie doll. Doing anything and everything in a creative way is a part of my daily life.
For the past 20 years I have been eco printing on textiles. Eco printing is a process where botanicals are coaxed to release their natural dyes onto fabrics resulting in beautiful leaf prints. Using eco printed textiles, I create originally designed garments, cashmere sweaters, silk blouses, scarves, home accessories, bags and purses. I also modify and embellish upcycled garments using eco printed textiles as well as ethnic and unusual textiles. Each piece I create is a unique, one of a kind, wearable piece of art.
Eco dyeing allows me to connect with nature. I hope that in sharing my creations with others, they too will be inspired and in awe of the incredible prints the leaves give to us. I have been “upcycling” since high school, long before the term was being used. Re-using anything allows me to feel I am doing my small part in living a more sustainable, conscious life. And it gives me another opportunity to use my creativity.
