Kellyn Elspeth Planteen
Kellyn Elspeth Planteen, originally from San Francisco, rediscovered her passion for painting after moving to her family home in Loomis. Planteen attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a degree in Fiber and Material Studies. Her current work focuses on reflecting the landscape and rural communities that surround her in an attempt to preserve the area’s beauty amidst rapid development.
As an oil painter, Planteen aims to immortalize cherished memories and significant landmarks. It’s important to her to capture not only the physical beauty of these places but also the essence of life, community, and the people within them. Planteen’s use of loose brushstrokes allow her to capture not just a scene, but a feeling of movement and life.
