Gay Jegers
I create colorful, and expressive mixed media abstract art. The works are layered, eclectic explorations of color, movement, texture and line. I love to create my art. It is the expression of who I am. The works emerge through my response with each color, and mark, as I create.
Viewing art creates a connection with the artist, I believe. This connection is both intimate and powerful. I create my art to connect; to connect who I am, through color and mark, and to those who view my work. It is the viewer creating this connection with the artist that is mysterious and magical.
I create my work on wood panels, canvas or paper. I work with acrylic paint, collage papers that I have found or created and with pencil, crayon, charcoal or oil pastels. I create them with love to play, wonder and connect. I create them to express myself.
I live on the lower elevations of the inspiring Sierra Nevada mountains in Auburn California.
I never know when or how a piece will end, at some point I just know when it is done. Creating art, creating magic is not easy work; but, oh, how I love it!
