Landing smack dab in the mud after exploring multiple mediums, I am a ceramicist who is inspired by flowers of all kinds. My floral themes bloom on functional ceramic ware.
When I sit down at the pottery wheel, I drop into a peaceful, meditative state as my hands begin to work and shape the clay. With the centering and opening, I begin to pull up the clay and create a shape that I then refine and smooth.
I aspire to create connection and positive feelings in the people who use what I make. Think of it as my hands reaching out to you through the clay. When you hold it, you can feel it is human-made. Does it make food and drink taste better? I sure like to think so!
As for the many flowers that decorate my pots, as a child I spent hours in my mother’s garden where the flowers practically began to speak to me of joy and celebration, making them the perfect way to adorn my ceramic pieces.
