I was transformed about a year ago. Coming across a snowy scene in Grass Valley, I carefully composed an image with the intention of transmitting an experience of what I was seeing and why it interested me. The resulting photograph ignited a long-dormant creative spark. Since then, I’ve used photography as an excuse to wander and observe the world with increasing care and interest. Photography has inspired me to capture areas of space and subject that move me in and out of the present moment. When photographing, I’m fully in the moment until my eye meets the viewfinder; then the experience of being present is exchanged for the composition of subject matter: color, contrast, environment, human emotion, and how those elements can create a harmonious synthesis.
