Ginger Barrett

I am a watercolor artist… there… I said it. I have been creating most of my life, toying with mixed media, oils, acrylics, yarn, cloth and a myriad of other artistic ventures, but “my art” escaped me. I finally found that in watercolor. It reflects me. It begins in fits and starts and flows from here to there never landing where I expect. It lives in the moment and in this moment it brings me joy. I’m ready to claim it.

Artist Statement

I always felt like an artist in my heart, but I just never seemed to have the time or the focus to become one in practice. I retired from Placer County 7 years ago and began traveling and painting on a daily basis. Everywhere I go now I look for shades and shadows and imagine how I would paint every new place. My watercolors are always within reach. When not traveling, I find inspiration in my garden or the little studio my husband created for me when we moved back home to Auburn two years ago. This is my first year on the tour and I’m so excited to become a part of this community.
