James Hirschinger
I have been attracted to abstract art for many years. While a student at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls I was invited to my professor’s home and was absolutely amazed when I saw his Franz Kline abstract painting! Seeing that powerful image has stuck with me throughout my life. It clearly has guided my photographic compositions particularly in my aquatic abstract images. I was awarded a scholarship to pursue an independent study program in Europe during the time the Berlin Wall was still up. I used my first 35 mm film camera to go into East Berlin to document the Communist influence on society. It was an amazing experience teaching me the power of photography to affect people’s perceptions.
In 2001, I retired as Dean Emeritus from Sierra College and committed myself to refining my photography. With my wife Imi, an award winning artist, we continued to expand our business, Ibexfineart.com producing fine art for hospitals, corporate and residential venues often with abstract composition themes which we love.
My studio is located in rural Loomis, California and is open for various open studio tours as well as by appointment by contacting me via my website: www.hirschingerfineart.com or (916) 652-4536
