Paul Harman

I have been creating realistic paintings in pastel for the past 16 years. I began working in this medium shortly after retirement thanks to a gift of lessons with Reif Erickson from my wife. I had always drawn and painted in my earlier years, but in pencil, watercolor and oils. This vibrant medium absolutely captured me. I loved the immediacy of the medium, not having to wait for anything to dry. As I became more skilled, I also painted outdoors in nature learning so much about light and shadow. As I travel to new places with my wife, I take photos and sometimes sketch ort paint on scene. I use many of my photos to recreate the beauty I have enjoyed. I hope my paintings bring good memories to the viewer.
