“I am once again living in Auburn, California, where I have kept a home for 48 years. The landscape here is different from the Pacific Northwest; a golden sunlight on gnarled oaks casting shadows on grasses that resemble old velvet fabric, deep river canyons that are dry and hot on one side, cool and green on the other, and rolling hills are all around.”
