Painting with wool is like painting with clouds — soft, shifting, and alive with possibility. Using the ancient art of wet felting, I blend color, texture, and movement into pieces that are both delicate and surprisingly strong. This balance between beauty and resilience has become a signature of my work.
Each piece begins with soft wool roving, water, soap, and a fair amount of pounding. Through friction and intention, the fibers lock together to form a fabric that is light as air but remarkably sturdy — wearable, touchable, and easy to care for. It’s an alchemy I never tire of.
People often ask, “How long does it take to make one?” The honest answer is over 30 years. My background in spinning, knitting, and abstract painting shaped my hands and eyes to do this work. What you see is not just a scarf — it’s the layering of decades of skill, curiosity, and creative devotion.
Felting is both a practice and a philosophy. I can bring intention, but I cannot control the outcome. The wool has a voice. Each piece invites me to listen, to respond, to let go. It’s a quiet collaboration between maker and material — and a metaphor for life.
I invite you to look closely — to fall into the textures, the lightness, the movement. May you feel the stillness and joy of something made slowly, with presence, and meant to be treasured.
