A slab of clay is my blank canvas. My favorite art tools consist of found objects that will make a mark: dried seed pods, weeds, ferns and grasses, as well as vintage lace, ribbon trim, old tools, kitchen gadgets and the like. I’m always looking for what will make a special texture on the clay as well as small rusted metal pieces I can incorporate on mixed media work.

I enjoy making functional pieces that include mugs and cups, bowls, trays and trinket dishes. I let my imagination wander when creating my pumpkins and acorns, wall hangings, bells, wind chimes and ornaments- all with different layers of texturing, under glazing and glaze combinations.

I love learning from other potters as they work their clay into inspiring pieces. There’s always something new to explore – a new form, a new style or technique, a new shape from nature, a new way to change the surface.
