About

Pattie Bowler- Award Winning Artist
I have a strong passion for color and shapes in my abstracts that define the intuitive process with multi layers of color. As I grew as an artist, shortly before retiring as a flight attendant after 27 plus years from United Airlines in 2003, I began painting watercolors then discovered I preferred the forgiveness of acrylics and I really enjoyed doing abstracts. I like the spontaneous results that I receive and the different interpretations that the viewer takes into the mind. My Husband, Bill and I moved to Roseville from Colorado Springs in August 2021. Before living in Colorado, we lived in McKinney, Texas and Fallbrook, California. I exhibited in Colorado Springs and 3 different Galleries in Texas and in 4 Galleries in Southern California.

Signature member of Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society Dallas and Colorado Watercolor Society, Past President of both groups.

Artist Statement

I Began painting about 25 years ago in McKinney, Texas where we lived in a 103-year-old farm house about 4 blocks from the town square with antique stores boutiques and art galleries and eventually became a part of Gallery on the Square and Artist Showplace, that started my journey to being a professional artist. I believe that the influence of my mother being a successful professional artist in Austin Texas also helped to inspire me.

My process Is intuitive one thought marries another as color is inspiring to me. I started with watercolors but using acrylics is my first choice because of the versality and forgiveness. Generally, I have an idea of what I am going to do but often it changes along the way. I use a heat gun to achieve the texture I love. I also do mixed media it’s the use of found papers, former paintings fabrics metals and whatever will attach with the correct adhesive No Rules ‘.

Joining art groups is where I developed my strong interest in abstracts acquiring Signature status with SWS and acceptance into 5 shows. I served as the Workshop Chairwoman for 3 years providing 6 workshops a year and Show chairwoman and then went on to become President. We relocated to Colorado Springs in 2014 where I continued my quest by Joining Gallery 113, Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and became President, and Colorado Watercolor Society, and earned Signature Status with both.

A member of Blue Line Arts, Sacramento Fine Arts, Rocklin Fine Arts, Folsom Art Association and Lincoln Art League. Showing my work at the Gold Country Gallery Placerville California, The Lincoln Boutique Gallery and The Artistic Edge on Fulton Street in Sacramento. I participated in the 2022 November Placer Studio Tour.
