Tamsen Armstrong

My goal as an artist is to find man made and natural creations, see them intimately, paint them honestly and hope the resulting images will resonate with the viewer. I respect the beautiful places as well as battered places; the expansive oceanfront and the old, tired storefront. I am drawn to distant horizons and bends in the road—literally and figuratively—where you can’t see where the next turn will take you. I also enjoy painting still lifes that bring out the quirky personality of everyday objects. I often paint my mood, whether it is wistful and contemplative, or bright and hopeful and I always paint with joy. When I am able to capture my impression of light and shadow, I am truly grateful.
