I’m inspired by traditional Ukrainian eggs (pysanky) and art, but sometimes I like to stray away from that and incorporate modern designs reminiscent of tattoo art.
My art is created on egg shell with a wax resist method like batik, this form of art has been part of Ukrainian culture for over 2000 years, as an offering during spring for a bountiful harvest. I use dyes especially made for the art of pysanky and my preferred eggs are turkey eggs because of the size, toughness of the shell and the way they take the dye. I create art on whole eggs that are blown out and also on fragments of egg shell that are cast in resin and made into jewelry.
